If there's an interest, there's a club for you! Penn State Mont Alto offers many involvement opportunities for students to join clubs and develop leadership skills. Club activities enrich the Mont Alto community and enhance the experience of the students involved.
Clubs provide students the opportunity to get involved, serve others, expand knowledge, explore new cultures, grow artistically, learn new skills and make new friends. Clubs and organizations provide students at Mont Alto with an opportunity to connect with others who share similar interests. Club leadership provides students with real-world experiences that can lead to personal development and enhance your resume. All student clubs and organizations are run by students with the assistance of faculty and/or full-time staff advisors.
Below is a sampling of clubs and organizations at Penn State Mont Alto.
Please note that all clubs are not active from one year to the next depending on student interest.
Adult Learner Organization
Penn State Mont Alto adult learners who are 23 and over and for others who carry similar adult responsibilities while pursuing an education at Penn State Mont Alto.
Alpha Sigma Lambda
Penn State Mont Alto hosts the Zeta Pi chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the national honor society that recognizes adult learners for superior academic achievement. Criteria for membership includes at least 30 Penn State credits completed, with a minimum 3.20 GPA, and age 23 or older.
Alternative Spring Break
To constructively impact lives through direct service, education, reflection, and cultural awareness with the overall goal of encouraging lifelong commitment to the global community through organization of Spring Break trips with the triple focus of community service, education, and reflection.
Anime Club
This student group has formed to provide students interested in anime, a style of Japanese comic book (manga) and video cartoon animation, to come together and enjoy this awesome form of art while exposing other students to this style of animation.
Asian Culture Association
To help educate peers of all nationalities on social, political, and social Issues, as well as to build academic growth and responsibilities among Asian students.
Billiards Club
The purpose of the Billiards Club is to educate others about the aspects and techniques of playing billiards, as well as to offer a fun and organized social sport in which students can participate.
Black Student Union (BSU)
The purpose of the Black Student Union is to promote, educate, and celebrate the awareness of African American culture. The association is designed to create diversity, visibility and education for all Penn State Students.
Blue and White Society
Students represent the Penn State University Blue and White Society engaging in activity open to present and alumnus of Penn State University. The purpose of the Blue & White Society shall be to:
- Support the Penn State Alumni Association’s mission to “connect alumni to the University and to each other, provide valued service to members, and to support the University’s mission of teaching, research, and service”
- Support The Pennsylvania State University and future, current, and past students and friends of the University
- Support our communities with Penn State pride and civic leadership
- Enhance the students’ Penn State experience by building relationships with alumni and staff
- Instill the concept within students that their involvement with the University can and should be a lifelong commitment
Business Association of Mont Alto (BAMA)
To help promote a deeper appreciation of the business major, as well as career opportunities in business fields.
Campus Activities Programming (CAP)
This activities and programming board plans and organizes events that serve the educational, recreational, and social interests of students. Some events include comedians, dances, theme programming, diversity experiences, and service projects.
Cheer and Dance Team
Through the participation and instruction of the Penn State Mont Alto Cheer & Dance team, we will promote the ideas of good sportsmanship, personal integrity, accountability, skill improvement, team cooperation and community service. We will support as many athletic events as possible and promote a positive game-day atmosphere for Penn State Mont Alto and its athletes.
Chess Club
The purpose of the Chess Club shall be to provide Penn State Mont Alto students an opportunity to learn the rules and apply their skills to playing the strategic game of chess. Membership in the Chess Club shall be open to all students regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, creed, national origin, age, or handicap. The club shall strive to encourage a diverse membership.
Commuter Student Association (CSA)
Penn State Mont Alto Commuter Student Association works to represent the voice of the commuter population and plan activities that will interest and involve students who commute to and from campus.
College Republicans
Discusses current political issues and educates themselves and others about the Republican party.
Environmental Club
The Environmental Club works for the benefit of Penn State Mont Alto by educating the campus community on environmental issues and sustainability.
Forestry Club
An organization of forest technology and forest science majors that provides social and professional activities.
Gaming Club
The main purpose of the Mont Alto Gaming Club is to create an organized environment in which students can play board and/or video games against one another.
Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) Club/Psychology (HDFS/Psychology Club)
An organization that seeks to build community among HDFS majors and Psychology majors.
Information Technology Club (IT)
To promote and integrate the understanding and use of information technology within the Mont Alto campus and its surrounding community.
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
In response to God's love, grace and truth: The purpose of this Chapter is to establish and advance at Penn State Mont Alto witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture and God's purposes in the world.
Latinx Club
The purpose of the Latinx Club is to promote, educate, and celebrate the awareness of Latin American culture. The association is designed to create diversity and education for all Penn State Students. Membership in the Latinx Club shall be open to any student regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, creed, national origin, age or handicap. The organization shall strive to promote a fun and healthy environment for Penn State students.
Lion Ambassadors
A prestigious organization of students who perform public relations functions for the campus. Students must apply for this organization.
Mont Alto Engineering Research, Study, and Development Club (MAERSD)
The organization will provide students with an opportunity to partake in realistic, yet complex engineering projects.
Mont Alto Physical Therapy Assistant Program (MAPTAP)
An organization that seeks to create a sense of community among physical therapist assistance majors to promote their profession through increased public awareness and to provide community service.
Racket Club
The purpose of the Racket Club is to teach people the rules of racket games including badminton, pickle ball, tennis, and others with approval while also promoting more physical activity and having fun.
Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA)
Penn State Mont Alto's LGBTQA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and allies) student club. To help peers by dispelling myths and stereotypes, increasing awareness, and providing support for and about sexuality and gender identity.
Student Government Association (SGA)
Responsible for encouraging extracurricular activities, supporting clubs and organizations, and fostering communication among the student body, faculty, and administration. The SGA Executive Board is composed of seven officers and an elected representative body (Senate). Representatives are chosen from residence halls and commuting students.
Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA)
An organization that seeks to provide public and campus community with an awareness of occupational therapy functions as a distinct health profession.
Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP)
The objective of this organization shall be to facilitate communication among the students, faculty, and administration of the Mont Alto campus site, University Park site, the other Commonwealth Campuses, and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center site for the purpose of:
- Providing opportunities for students to broaden awareness in professional and community experiences
- Organizing and encouraging student participation in interdisciplinary activities
- Promoting awareness and orientation to current nursing policies, settings, and to the professional role of the nurse
- Speaking for nursing students to the public, institutions, organizations, and government bodies
- Influencing the development of relevant approaches to nursing education
Student Veterans Association
An organization to perform service projects for the betterment of the Penn State Mont Alto campus and local community. This organization shall be an advocate of veterans on campus and in the local community, as well as a platform for the integration of veterans into the campus social and professional networks.
Penn State Mont Alto benefiting THON
Student run philanthropy that raises money for The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, directly benefiting children with cancer.
TEAM MA at Penn State Mont Alto
Our mission is to bring encouragement to athletes through the gospel so that they may become loyal followers and teammates of Jesus Christ.
Varsity Club
The purpose of the Varsity Club shall be to provide all Penn State Mont Alto Varsity Athletes the opportunity to work together and participate in community service as well as charitable events. The club is designed to provide a learning experience for the Mont Alto athletes to not only work together on playing fields but to also work together outside of the competitions in order to make a difference for others along with the Mont Alto Athletic Program.
Woodsmen Team
An organization that provides social and professional activities for forestry students. Open to all students regardless of gender.
Young Democrats
Discusses current political issues and educates themselves and others about the Democratic party.
